Roullete – The Basics of Roulette
Roulette is a casino game that has been around for hundreds of years and is still popular worldwide. Its origin is believed to be derived from the older games hoca and portique, but it has been modified and adapted over time.
The game consists of a spinning wheel with divisions that surround it on a base of a bowl. A ball is rolled in the bowl and the wheel comes to rest in one of these divisions, which are numbered from 1 to 36 in a seemingly random pattern, alternately red and black. On American wheels, there are two additional green divisions marked 0 and 00.
Several types of bets can be placed on the roulette wheel. These bets can be on a single number, various groupings of numbers, the color red or black, whether the number is odd or even, and high (19-36) or low (1-18).

The player places a roulette chip on the betting mat. The exact location of the chip reflects the bet being made.
Before the ball is rolled, the chips are placed in place on the betting mat and are then removed as soon as a decision is made by the dealer. The dealer then removes the buck or puck that indicates which number was hit on the last decision. The bets are then paid out.
Some casinos offer a special bet called a “Roulette Line”. This bet is placed on the row of numbers that runs from the zero to the dividing line between the row featuring 1, 2 and 3. The line bet pays 6 to 1.
Another common bet in European roulette is the “Double Streets” bet. This bet is placed on a single chip and it is made by placing it on the intersection of four numbers.
A third bet is the “3Q” bet. This is a bet on three numbers, each of which costs a different amount of chips to complete.
There are many strategies that can be applied to the game of roulette, but you should keep in mind that no strategy can overcome the house edge.
